This statement sets out Transform Recruitment’s commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking within our business and supply chains, with reference to the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Our Business
Transform Recruitment is an education recruitment business supporting schools with the appointment of teaching, support and leadership staff.
Our UK services focus on supplying temporary, fixed-term and permanent staff to Primary, Secondary and SEND schools across Birmingham and the West Midlands. Our international recruitment services support schools overseas, particularly in the Middle East.
Our operations include candidate sourcing, interviewing, vetting, safeguarding and compliance checks, placement management, payroll coordination where applicable, and ongoing support for schools and candidates.
Our supply chains and business relationships may include:
- Payroll and umbrella companies.
- Background screening and identity-verification providers.
- Training and professional development providers.
- IT, marketing and professional service suppliers.
- Recruitment partners and other organisations supporting placements.
Our Commitment
Transform Recruitment is committed to conducting business ethically, with integrity and transparency. We recognise the potential for exploitation within recruitment and labour supply chains and are committed to identifying and addressing these risks.
Children are at the heart of our work. We believe that supporting their education also requires protecting the rights, dignity and welfare of the people working with them.
We are committed to:
- Ensuring candidates enter employment freely and are not subjected to forced labour, coercion or exploitation.
- Providing clear information about roles, pay, employment terms and working conditions.
- Conducting appropriate recruitment, safeguarding and compliance checks.
- Working with suppliers and partners who uphold our ethical standards.
- Creating an environment in which concerns can be raised safely and taken seriously.
Policies on Slavery and Human Trafficking
Transform Recruitment takes a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking.
Our approach is supported by policies and procedures covering:
- Modern slavery and ethical recruitment.
- Recruitment, safeguarding and candidate welfare.
- Supplier standards and due diligence.
- Whistleblowing and reporting concerns.
- Fair pay and employment practices.
These arrangements establish expected standards of conduct, reporting routes and escalation procedures. They will be reviewed regularly and updated where necessary to reflect changes in legislation, guidance or identified risks.
Safeguarding and Candidate Welfare
Safeguarding children and vulnerable people is central to our work. We also recognise our responsibility to remain alert to exploitation affecting candidates and workers.
We are committed to maintaining appropriate contact with candidates during their placements to:
- Help them understand their role, pay and employment conditions.
- Provide an opportunity to raise concerns about their workplace or treatment.
- Identify potential signs of coercion, financial abuse or exploitation.
- Support timely action where welfare concerns arise.
Concerns will be escalated promptly through the appropriate safeguarding, management or external reporting channels.
Workforce, Supply Chain and Due Diligence
We recognise that temporary workers, overseas candidates and individuals unfamiliar with local employment arrangements may face increased risks of exploitation.
Our approach to due diligence includes:
- Verifying candidate identity and entitlement to work, as applicable to the placement.
- Completing appropriate safeguarding checks, including DBS checks where required and legally available.
- Verifying references, qualifications and relevant employment history.
- Reviewing payroll providers and key suppliers before engagement.
- Communicating our expectations on ethical recruitment and fair treatment to business partners.
- Including appropriate contractual requirements concerning modern slavery and human trafficking.
- Investigating concerns and reviewing relationships where suppliers or partners fail to meet our standards.
For international placements, we are committed to providing clear information about employment and relocation arrangements and remaining alert to risks such as misleading job offers, coercive recruitment practices and improper retention of identity documents.
Risk Assessment and Management
We are committed to reviewing modern slavery risks within our business and supply chains, particularly in relation to:
- Temporary labour supply.
- Payroll and umbrella company arrangements.
- International recruitment and relocation.
- Candidates who may be vulnerable to exploitation.
- Supplier, contractor and recruitment partner relationships.
Where risks are identified, we will take proportionate action, which may include additional checks, closer monitoring, requests for corrective action or ending a business relationship.
We encourage open communication with candidates and schools so that concerns can be identified and addressed early.
Measuring Effectiveness
We will review the effectiveness of our approach through:
- Recording and reviewing reported concerns and the actions taken.
- Reviewing supplier and partner compliance.
- Monitoring relevant staff training.
- Gathering feedback from candidates and client schools.
- Reviewing recruitment, safeguarding and welfare procedures.
Findings will inform improvements to our processes and future statements.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to providing staff involved in recruitment, compliance and onboarding with appropriate training and guidance on:
- Recognising indicators of modern slavery and exploitation.
- Ethical recruitment and fair employment practices.
- Safeguarding and candidate welfare.
- Relevant responsibilities under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
- Reporting and escalating concerns.
Training and guidance will be reviewed periodically to maintain awareness and respond to emerging risks.
Reporting Concerns
Candidates, workers, clients, suppliers and staff are encouraged to report concerns about exploitation, unethical conduct or suspected modern slavery.
Concerns can be raised directly with Marc Ashford, Director, or by emailing .
We will take reports seriously, handle them sensitively and act promptly. Information will be shared only where necessary to investigate concerns, protect individuals or meet legal obligations.
No person raising a genuine concern in good faith should suffer retaliation or disadvantage.
